Isolated and loving it

Rencontre East
This coastal village lies on Fortune Bay on the south shore of Newfoundland. Rencontre East ("Rencounter" in local dialect) has no road access and there are no cars here: The (less than 200) residents use their feet, bicycles, or ATVs for getting around. Outsider access is by ferry.

We were here on 12 August 2003: Here is our arrival at the dock. Yes, I know: There’s a truck in the photo... Trucks are not cars. 😛
